Doha: The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Qatar in association with Argon Global organised a workshop on “Data analytics for internal audit using ACL Technology” at Hotel Al Sharq Village. Auditors representing banks, government and private sector companies were given a day-long hands on training with ACL software installed in their laptops.

ACL software solutions enable comprehensive, independent testing and monitoring of transactional data, enabling organizations to validate the effectiveness of internal controls across organisations and to meet regulatory objectives.

“It is time to move from traditional internal audit methodologies by leveraging advanced business analytics to refine the focus on risk and derive deeper insights into the organisation. Data analytics helps in delivering higher quality audit by identifying areas to reduce cost, enhance productivity, operational efficiency, detect potential frauds or errors etc. The business insights through data analytics can be historical, real-time or predictive and tailored risk focused. This knowledge is indispensable for today’s auditors” said Sundaresan Rajeswar, the IIA board member who organised the event for the chapter. Christian Adonis IIA board member introduced the speaker.

Balaji Rengarajan, a certified Master Trainer from ACL with 18 years of experience in IT audit, consulting, risk management and governance conducted the training.

“The flexibility and scalability of ACL technology allows auditors to implement a range of audit analytic approaches, extending from ad hoc audit analysis, through to repeated control reviews in scheduled audit plans, to automated continuous controls monitoring applications embedded in the day-to-day operations of critical business processes.” Rengarajan said.

P N Rajesh, Vice-President of Argon Global presented company profile and conducted a raffle draw for iPhone 5S sponsored by AG Comm.
