DOHA: Qatar Exchange’s main index extended gains last week led by the banking and financial sector and the transportation sector indices. The index gained 73.42 points or 0.79 percent last week to close at 9,372.17 points.
The market capitalisation rose by 0.63 percent to reach QR515bn compared to QR512bn at the end of previous week.
Trading value last week decreased by 24.67 percent to reach QR972m compared to the previous week’s QR1.2bn.
Trading volume decreased by 31.03 percent to reach over 19 million shares, as against 28 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 18.16 percent to reach 12,377 transactions last week as compared to 15,124 transactions.
The banking and financial services sector led trading value accounting for 42.82 percent of the followed by the industrial sector, which accounted for 28.51 percent. The consumer goods and services sector accounted for 9.08 percent followed by transportation sector.
The banking and financial services sector led trading volume last week, accounting for 32.63 percent of the total, followed by the real estate sector, which accounted for 19.40 percent. The industrial sector’s trading volume accounted for 15.92 percent.
The banking and financial services sector also led the trading number of transactions last week accounting for 33.44 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector, which accounted for 27.94 percent. The real estate sector and the transportation sector accounted for 12.18 percent and 10.70 percent respectively.
Of the 42 companies listed, 24 ended higher last week, while 16 fell and two companies remained unchanged.
QNB led trading value last week, accounting for 24.49 percent of the total traded value, followed by Industries Qatar (18.41 percent) and Masraf Al Rayyan (5.26 percent).
Yesterday, the bourse added 4.63 points or 0.05 percent to advance to 9,372.17 points from Wednesday’s closing of 9,367.54. The volume of the shares traded fell to 2.8m from 3.2m on Wednesday, and the value of shares decreased to QR184m from QR673m. Among the top gainers were Commercial Bank of Qatar which was up 0.57 percent to QR70.90, Doha Bank rose 0.96 percent to QR47.30, Barwa Real Estate gained 0.19 percent to QR26.60 and Gulf International was up 0.60 percent to QR41.85.
The banking and financial sector index was up 0.20 points while the consumer goods and services sector index lost 0.03 points. The industrial sector dropped 0.16 points while the insurance sector added 0.32 points.
