Doha: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable to President of the Republic of Kenya H E Uhuru Kenyatta, expressing sincere condolences on the death of Ambassador of Kenya to Doha, H E Patrick Cornel Odero Ahenda (pictured).
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his and Qatar's condolences on the death of the Ambassador of the Kenya to Qatar H E Patrick Cornel Odero Ahenda.
In a tweet posted on his official account, Sheikh Mohammed said that the deceased was keen to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and the two friendly peoples, noting that in this regard he made appreciable efforts, which we remember with gratitude.
For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it had received with great sadness the news of the death of Ambassador Patrick Cornel Odero Ahenda. In a statement, the ministry expressed Qatar’s condolences to the government and people of Kenya, the family of the deceased, his friends and colleagues, and noted the appreciated efforts made by the deceased to develop relations between the two friendly countries in all fields. Ambassador Ahenda had been in his post since February 2019. He sadly passed away at Hamad Medical Corporation where he was rushed to after suddenly taking Ill.
In a statement, the Kenyan Embassy said: “The embassy of Kenya in Doha presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar (Department of Protocol, all Diplomatic Missions and Offices of the International Organisations accredited to Qatar and has the honour to inform with deep sorrow and sadness of passing away of H E Amb. Patrick C O Ahenda. He passed away yesterday at 3am at the Hamad Medical Corporation.”
The statement said a condolence book to commemorate the life of the late ambassador will be opened at the Embassy and at the Official Residence at Dafna, Street 871, Zone 68, Building 42 starting today till Thursday from 10am to 2pm. The book is open at Ambassador’s residence from 9am to 6pm. Ahenda was a former member of the Kenyan Parliament.
