Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani yesterday met with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the International Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, which is taking place in Brussels.

The meeting reviewed aspects of mutual cooperation and means of strengthening relations between Qatar and the United Nations on all fronts, particularly in the humanitarian and relief affairs.
The foreign minister expressed condemnation of the gas attack that was carried out at Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib's countryside in Syria, stressing the need to protect civilians from deadly weapons, the cessation of hostilities and the accountability of those responsible for using such weapons, pointing to the flagrant violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 2118.
Foreign Minister reaffirmed Qatar's keenness on working with the UN to address the challenges facing the region, including the peace process in the Middle East and the crisis in Yemen and Syria.
The Foreign Minister also met with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri on the sidelines of the International Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria held in Brussels.
