DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has launched an urgent relief campaign to support people in the flood-hit areas of Albania . About 1,200 families are expected to benefit from the QR400,000 project.
The campaign was inaugurated in the presence of several officials such as Blendi Klosi, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Youssef Al Sa’i, Qatar Ambassador in Albania, Vangjush Dako, Mayor of the City of Durrës and Ardian Kokomani, Mayor of Shijak.
Mohammed Al Ka’bi, QC’s Relief Director said that the Qatari ambassador’s presence in the ceremony reflects Qatar’s true image of supporting poor and needy communities.
“I also thank the philanthropists for supporting and donating for the relief and developmental projects QC implements in Albania and other countries around the world,” he said.
Shawqi Abu Seif, QC’s Office Director in Albania said that each affected family received a big food basket (55 Kg) sufficient for a month. It includes the basic supplies such as flour, oil, sugar, macaroni, rice, beans, drinking water and others. They also received two blankets and mattresses.
The project focuses on the two most flood-affected governorates in Albania: Durrës, Albania’s second biggest city, and Shijak.
