Robbie Fowler, former Liverpool Football Club professional football player, together with two current Liverpool FC Foundation coaches, Forbes Duff and Scott Fowler, led players from On the Ball Football Club in an exclusive intense training session. On the Ball Football Club is a Park House English School community initiative and sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank.
As the 5th highest goal scorer in the English Premier League, scoring 183 goals for Liverpool Football Club, Robbie Fowler and coaches from the LFC foundation passed on their knowledge to 120 eager students in a ‘Goal Keeping’ training course to help encourage team work, develop problem solving skills, cooperation and fair play. They also visited Park House School for a session on the pitch with selected students and a Q&A assembly focusing on the different key stages such as technical and physical skills, social aspects and game awareness.
Year 9 student, Tyler Ward, said: “I feel privileged to have met the legend, Robbie Fowler. It was a great feeling to play in front of one of football’s all-time greats. I wouldn’t have had this opportunity without On the Ball. I have always loved playing football but On the Ball has helped to develop my skills and take my game to the next level.”The Peninsula

We thank Standard Chartered for their continuing sponsorship of the programme, the Liverpool FC coaches for attending and Park House English School for their support of the club” commented Director and Head Coach of On the Ball, Graham Rennie.
Standard Chartered Bank CEO Charles Carlson commented, “Our purpose of sponsoring On the Ball was always an endeavour to partner with the local community in a meaningful way; offering children an opportunity to have a fulfilling after school activity and utilise our resources in bringing the best from the football world within reach of children in Qatar. We are very pleased with the partnership we have with Park House as we can see the benefits to the community exactly as what we had envisioned”.
