Doha: The Weather Bureau has issued warnings of turbulent sea and strong winds picking up dust, lowering visibility today and tomorrow. The strong north-westerly wind blowing in from the icy European regions will cause a dip in mercury at night, causing much difference between day and night temperatures in various parts of the country in the coming days .
“Due to stronger north-westerly wind speeds expected in the next two days, Thursday and Friday, the Met Department urges all to avoid any sea activities. Wave height is expected to reach 15 feet in the north with 35 knot wind speed,” the bureau posted on its social media platforms.
With a difference of 10 degree Celsius today, Mesaieed and Al Wakrah will have maximum temperature of 23 and minimum temperature of 14 degree Celsius, while at Al Khor, the temperature will range between 23 and 13 and between 20 and 10 degree Celsius in Abu Samra. The temperature in Abu Samra is expected to fall to 9 degree Celsius on Friday.
Today, Doha will have a maximum temperature of 24 degree Celsius and a minimum of 17 degree Celsius, that will fall to 14 degree Celsius on Friday.
The north-westerly winds will move between 15 and 25 knots inshore, at times going upto a speed of 30 knots. While, offshore, the wind speed will be between 20 to 30 knots going up to 35 knots at places at times.
The visibility will be between 4 to 8km, which can become less with blowing dust at times.
The sea will reach 7 to 11 feet offshore at times reaching up to 14 feet. Yesterday, observations showed 8 feet wave height in the north with 25 knot wind speed.
The Met Department has urged all residents to be cautious and to avoid venturing into sea during periods of strong winds as well as follow the latest updates on its official social media accounts.
