Cricket: PEC win U-19 schools tourney

DOHA: Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) displayed their fighting skills and won the QCA Under-19 Inter-School Girls Cricket Tournament with a 15-run triumph against Birla Public School. 
The tournament was successfully organised by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) and sponsored by the Asian Cricket Council at the Qatar Cricket Stadium, recently. 
Batting first, PEC were all out for 74 runs in 20 overs. But they staged a superb comeback and shot out the rivals for only 59 runs. Ayesha of PEC excelled in the final and was adjudged the player of the match. 
Two special prizes for players were also announced. Kulsoom of Ideal Indian School was declared the Best Bowler and PEC’s Khadija Ahmad won the Best Batswoman’s award. 
QCA General Secretary Manzoor Ahmad was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes. 
In a brief speech, he congratulated the winners and expressed hopes that other teams would prepare better and challenge the defending champions with improved performances next year. He also thanked to the organising committee of the tournament.
Other QCA officials present on the occasion included Malik Nazar (Technical Advisor), Jamshaid Ahmad, Shivani Mishra, Abdul Salam (Umpire), Paramjeet Kaur and Sajida Bibi.
Coordinators Mariam Gul Khan and Shivani Mishra supervised the tournament.
In all, six schools took part in the tournament. These were: Pak Shamaa School and College, Ideal Indian School, Pakistan Education Centre, Birla Public School, Dukhan English School and MES Indian School.
