DOHA: More than 845 people have registered for winter camping through the Ministry of Municipality and Environment website and other registration centers. The registration opened on Sunday.
Many people prefer to register through the website and at other registration centres like Umm Salal, Al Rayyan and Kharaitiyat.
The website witnessed some technical problem on the first day and some applicants were not able to get receipts after paying the deposit amount. It has since been corrected.
Saad Ibraheem Al Kaabi, General Coordinator for camping during winter season, said that the numbers allocated for some sea sites have been closed, like Al Nuf, Oreydah, Ras Matbakh, Zakrit and Boroq, while registration for other sea sites is still open. He said this year the number of campers is expected to reach 2,500.
