QE’s main index gains, market cap increases to QR530.14bn

DOHA: Qatari stocks gained last week with the main index of the bourse inching up 180.26 points, or 1.88 percent, to 9,761.03. 

The trading value, though, fell 12 percent to QR1.27bn over the previous week when the figure was QR1.44bn.

The trading volumes, totaling 30.84 million, jumped more than 12 percent over the 27.34 million shares witnessed the week before. The number of deals dipped 8.28 percent to 14,375. The deals totaled 15,672 the previous week.

The market capitalisation of the bourse, Qatar Exchange (QE), rose marginally (by 1.55 percent) to QR530.14bn from QR522bn the previous week.

Banks and financial services counters led the trading value in the week with slightly over 41 percent share in the total. Industries stocks ranked second accounting for 19.77 percent, while the real estate sector had a share of 15.51 in the total. Consumer goods and services stocks ended with a contribution of 10.43 percent.

It were the banks and financial counters that led the trading volumes, with a  37.88 percent share in the total. The real estate sector accounted for 29.26 percent while the industrial stocks had a share of 10.80 percent, and consumer goods and services sector accounted for 8.31 percent.

Banks and financial services led in terms of the number of traded transactions as well with a 28.74 percent share in the total. Industries stocks accounted for 23.83 percent while the real estate shares accounted for 17.63 percent and consumer goods and services, 12.69 percent.

Out of the 42 listed companies 34 ended higher in the week while seven fell and one remained unchanged. Masraf Al Rayan led the trading value the past week with a share of 16.52 percent in the total. Industries Qatar accounted for 11.27 percent and QNB accounted for 11.26 percent.

Yesterday, Qatar Exchange pursued its upswing trend adding 62.67 points (0.65 percent)  to advance to 9,761.03 points. Among the top gainers were Doha Bank which was up 0.18 percent to QR54.40, Masraf Al Rayan gained 0.34 percent to QR29.15, Barwa Real Estate gained 3.16 percent to QR26.15 and Vodafone Qatar was up by 0.22 percent to QR9.07.
