DOHA: A court of appeal has upheld the verdict of a lower court averting the decision of Qatar University to terminate the job contract of one of its employees.
The court has also ordered the university to restore the employee in the same position and pay a compensation. The employee had been working in an administrative position with second grade, Al Sharq reported. The university had taken a decision against the employee, a citizen, deducting three days salary and terminating his job contract without referring the case to the authority concerned.
As per the regulation of Qatar University such cases should be referred to the authority concerned for punitive action in line with the article No. 137 of Human Resources Law and the article No. 7 of the Law No. 34 of 2004 of the regulation of Qatar University.
