Doha: Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation spent around QR20m on charity projects in Qatar during the first half of this year.
The projects include distribution of food items, monthly financial allowance and support to pay school fees and medical bills.
Around 4,790 people benefited from the projects, Qatar News Agency reported.
The Foundation focused on social and human development inside the country with 82 percent from the total budget spending, said Saeed Mothkar Al Hajiri, Managing Director of the Foundation.
Sixty percent of the total aid in Qatar went to needy families, and patients to pay their medical bills, and to help some families facing financial crisis, he added.
The Foundation is also supporting dozens of people who incurred huge debts. It spent about QR3.7m for this purpose to get the debt-ridden back to normal life.
It spent about QR500,000 to provide medical support to the needy and a similar amount to support school going children.
Some 1650 people have benefited from food items provided by the Foundation, with a cost of QR2m, he said.
The beneficiaries were chosen by a specialized committee that studies the official documents, their situation on the field.
