Minister discusses maritime violations with IMO official

London:  Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti met here yesterday with Secretary-General of International Maritime Organization (IMO) Kitack Lim.
The meeting dealt with the violations of the siege countries of international and maritime agreements, which caused great damages and dangers to marine navigation in violation to maritime agreements and especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The Minister handed over the Secretary-General a document containing the violations that affected marine safety to be communicated to the 172 members of the organisations.
In addition to the State of Qatar's request of supporting future nominations that will be held in the international organization in November.
The candidates must have objectivity, integrity, and their countries must be ones that are committed to those agreements verbally and in practice.
The Minister also invited a delegation from the IMO to visit the State of Qatar and stand on the legal and safety procedures taken by the country to honour its international commitment, particularly in the field of security, safety and the rescue of all ships at sea regardless of their flags in line with the international law and International humanitarian law.
