An inspector from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce puts up the closure notice at the main entrance of the garage.

DOHA: A garage in the Industrial Area has been shut down for one month by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce for selling and displaying counterfeit spare parts.
Inspectors from the ministry fined the garage and ordered it closed in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 8/2008.
The law stipulates that suppliers must clearly display on product labels clear descriptions of goods and their ingredients and refrain from posting any misleading or false information.
The ministry’s inspection campaign aimed to offset price manipulation and expose violations pertaining to counterfeit goods and non-conformance with standard specifications.
The ministry said it is determined to protect consumer rights and will intensify its campaign to crack down on all violations.
According to Article 3 of the law on consumer protection, the decision of closure is to be published on the ministry’s website and two newspapers at the expense of the erring garage.
The ministry said it will refer violators to the competent authorities for further legal action.
The ministry has urged all consumers to report any violation to its Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department and send complaints and suggestions through its communication channels.
