Aspire Zone opens registration for ramadan sports festival

Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has announced that registration for the annual Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF), which is taking place over two weeks during Ramadan, from June 10th to June 24th, will open on Thursday 5th May.
In line with the success of previous editions, AZF is this year offering a unique programme of activities, including two new sports, as part of its efforts to facilitate the participation of as many members of the community as possible.
?Futsal, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Walking all in one place This year’s festival includes 11 sports-focused activities, attracting a larger number of sports enthusiasts and catering to their various needs. Male sports competitions will include: basketball, 12 teams with 8 players per team for 5 days; football, 16 teams with 15 players per team for 8 days; volleyball, 8 teams with 9 players per team for 5 days.
The Foundation has also included Futsal Competitions for juniors and AZF employees, which will take place in Aspire Dome, as well as a table tennis tournament for persons with special needs in the multipurpose hall. In addition, and as part of its efforts to raise awareness of the importance of exercise, the Aspire Dome will be open for members of the Step into Health initiative as a walking venue every day throughout Ramadan.(QNA) The Aspire Zone Sand pitch will host a beach soccer tournament, where 8 teams with 8 players per team will compete over 5 days. The Foundation has also dedicated three days for tennis competitions for adult and young females.
Cricket added as a new edition and remote-controlled car racing returns to this year’s programme With every new edition of the RSF, AZF introduces new sports tournaments as part of its efforts to accommodate wider segments of the local community and cater to their various interests. This year’s edition will feature the introduction of a Cricket tournament, as well as the return of remote-controlled car racing, following the great success it achieved in the 2014 edition. The cricket tournament will see six teams of nine battle it out over two days, while the remote-controlled car races will feature two categories of contestants.
Registration for the Ramadan Sports Festival begins on Thursday May 5thand continues until the end of the month. Tournaments will take place everyday from 9:30PM until midnight and winners will be awarded prizes of varying values.
