London---European stock markets opened slightly higher Monday following the long May 1 weekend, and with London closed for a bank holiday.
In initial deals, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index rose 0.46 percent to 11,506.84 points and the CAC 40 in Paris added 0.28 percent to 5,060.50 compared with Thursday's close.
Most Asian stocks made cautious gains following Friday's stronger Wall Street finish, and with markets in Tokyo, Thailand and Malaysia shut for public holidays.
