Cabinet holds weekly meeting, praises FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 opening ceremony

Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet praised the successful and outstanding opening ceremony of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, which was inaugurated under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Monday. The dazzling segments of the ceremony, with their messages and meanings, embodied the authenticity of the Arab nation and its rich heritage, and reflected the feelings of the Arab peoples aspiring to solidarity, cooperation and a better future.

The Cabinet welcomed the heads of delegations from the fraternal Arab countries, the participating teams, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, and guests of the tournament, which constitutes a new addition and a prominent milestone in the record of sporting achievements of the State of Qatar.

The Cabinet also praised the new corporate identity and strategy of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA), which was launched under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. GRSIA's new corporate identity and strategy represent the start of a new phase of insurance protection in the State of Qatar, and contribute to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, through the two pillars of human development and social development.

The Cabinet then considered the topics on its agenda. The Cabinet was informed of the Shura Council's approval of the draft general budget of the state for the fiscal year 2026, and the draft law approving the budget.

The Cabinet approved the draft decision of the Minister of State for Energy Affairs to extend the deadline for compliance for those addressed by the provisions of Law No. 19 of 2024 regulating district cooling services.

The Cabinet decided to approve the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) for scientific, academic and training cooperation between the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Iraq, the draft agreement on the encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments between the State of Qatar and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the draft MoU for cooperation in the field of agriculture between the Ministry of Municipality of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of ​​the Portuguese Republic, the draft MoU on joint cooperation in the field of museums between Qatar Museums and the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism in the People's Republic of China, the draft executive program between the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Youth of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria for cooperation in the field of youth from 2025 to 2027, and the draft executive program for the cooperation agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in the field of sports from 2025 to 2027.

The Cabinet concluded its meeting by reviewing three reports and making appropriate decisions regarding them. These included a report on the National Cyber ​​Training Program (Fresh Graduates Bootcamp), a report on the results of participation in the 35th Meeting of the GCC Ministers of Justice, and a report on the results of participation in the High-Level Conference of the United Nations Road Safety Fund and the Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
