Doha: In celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Ability Friendly Programme is hosting a Fun Day event open to all disabled people in Qatar.
The event, which takes place on December 4 from 12pm to 4.30pm, is for those five years and older, including adults, who can learn more about the swimming, football, cricket, and playball programmes, and enjoy a special dancing activity. Registration can be done through the Education City Application or here. Registrations are also being accepted for the upcoming Winter Camp from December 12-21 for junior and senior aged participants.
Around 15% of the world’s population – currently 1 billion people – experience some form of disability, and can face widespread barriers in accessing sports and recreation services. To bridge this gap, the Ability Friendly Programme, a member of Qatar Foundation, provides sports programmes, activities, and special events for people with disabilities.
Members of the Ability Friendly Programme are also participating in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as Flag Bearers.
