PISQ holds annual scrabble tournament

DOHA: To help improve students’ English vocabulary, Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) held its Annual Inter-Wings Scrabble Tournament on at the campus of the school recently.

Students of Primary, Girls’ & Boys’ Wing participated in this contest. This inventive game which aims at enhancing the students’ vocabulary and making their mind strategic is a regular feature of schools weekly club activities. This tournament was organized by the head of arts and culture department Reema Rashid.

Nargis Raza Otho, Principal PISQ graced the occasion as the chief guest of the day. The week-long arduous training session of the Scrabble contenders with their instructors got accomplished in a nail biting competition The enthusiastic participation of the students from Grade I V to Grade XII made the competition a triumphant success.

The contestants were divided into junior (IV) and senior (Grade V-XII) categories. They were then formed into two teams with each team comprising of two student players of their respective wings.

There were two rounds in which each team was given 10 moves. Students had cut throat competition. In the Junior category (Grade-IV) first position was notched by 4TH Grade (Ayan Tauheed & Ramaha Riyaz).

Whereas, In the senior category (V vs VI)1st position went to the Girls’ team comprising of Bushra Qazi & Zara Naeem. In the same category (VII vs VIII)team made up of Amna Sajjad & Hurain Zaidi bagged first place.In the senior Category(IX & X vs XI & XII)team-K consisting of Maira Naeem and Laraib won the contest.

Competition was adjudicated by a jury made up of Shahab Gillani , Khawar Mehmood & Khawaer Mahmood (Teachers Boy wing) Zareen Gul & Uzma (Teachers Primary Wing) Rahat- ul- Ain, Iqra Islam & Naheed Akhter (Teachers Girls’ Wing) At the end of the tournament , the winning teams were awarded with certificates by Madam, Nargis Raza Otho, Principal of PISQ.
