Hong Kong: Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks ended the day with small gains on Monday, having swung in and out of positive territory, with investors welcoming data indicating a surprise increase in Chinese manufacturing activity.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.08 percent, or 19.59 points, to 25784.17.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index nudged up 0.11 percent, or 3.48 points, to 3,195.91 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 0.40 percent, or 7.51 points, to 1,905.20.
