Farm owners and workers receive training from officials to maintain the health of their animals.

DOHA: Amid the soaring mercury, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has asked the owners of animal breeding farms to keep monitoring the body temperatures of their pets and consult veterinarian immediately if temperatures crossed the normal limit.
Normal temperature of a fit animal ranges between 37.5° and 38.5° Celsius and an increasing temperature means the animal is sick and needs treatment, said the Ministry.
The Animal Husbandry Department at the Ministry launched an awareness drive to educate farm owners and their workers on how to provide better healthcare to their animals, said a statement.
The farm owners were provided with training on animals’ health and sickness through body temperatures, pulsating and breathing rates.
The knowledge about the condition of the animals and sickness symptoms could help early detection of diseases and provide treatment on time.
They were also told about the time tables and types of immunisation for animals.
The department has set up veterinary centres across the country, especially close to animal farms, to ensure immediate health services are provided in case of emergencies.
It also organised workshops for the development of the animal farming sector, which needs more care to obtain good returns, to increase the income of the farms.
The Ministry has issued strict directives to the owners and asked them to pay attention to the health of the animals and ensure the sick ones do not pose any threats to the public health.
