11 die in fire in labour accommodation

Doha: Eleven people died and 12 were injured in a fire that broke out in a labour accommodation on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior has confirmed.

The accommodation belonged to a company working on the Salwa Tourism Project, the ministry tweeted yesterday.

The injured were rushed to hospital.

A Civil Defence team reached the site in record time and evacuated it to prevent the blaze from spreading to  adjacent areas, said the ministry. An investigation is going on to know the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, some employees of a security company died and many were injured in a bus accident on Al Khor coastal road, Al Sharq reports.

Police and ambulance team rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Further details were not available.
