Pakistan Professionals Forum Qatar (PPFQ) organised a Gala Dinner and Cancer Awareness Programme to mark its fifth anniversary.

The event was well attended by leading community dignitaries. The event was organised to promote cancer awareness among Pakistani community for which key speakers Dr Hadi Mohammad Abu Rasheed, supervisor health education at Qatar Cancer Society, and Dr Syed Mohammad Ali, senior general and colorectal cancer consultant at Medical Corporation, delivered useful lectures.

The event was also attended by higher officials of the Pakistan Embassy, Commercial attaché Arbab Qaiser along with Chairman PPFQ Mohsin Mujtaba who delivered mementos to sponsors and leading journalists in Doha.

During the event, Mohsin Mujtaba told The Peninsula: “As it appears, we are celebrating 5 years of dedication and hard work of the PPFQ team. But I want to assure everyone that we are in fact celebrating our commitment and spirit to continue building on the firm foundations laid by the former PPFQ Executive Committee. Today, we have gathered, both the professional and business communities of Qatar, to further promote the soft image of Pakistan.”

“It gives me utmost pleasure to celebrate this milestone — 5th anniversary of PPFQ — along with so many distinguished members of our community.  We have been acknowledged as a very active organisation since its inception —always roping in the best from the community and constantly working hard to put together high quality events which are beneficial to all. I wish PPFQ all the best in the years to come,” said President of PPFQ Uzma Shehreyar.

Pakistani singer Amanat Ali also performed in the event and it was his first-time performance in Doha.  Amanat Ali, also a songwriter and actor, is a prominent member of the legendary Sham Churasi Gharana. Born in Faisalabad, he won the third place in the televised music contest “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” held in India in 2007 and has sung songs for Bollywood movies including Dostana and Bal Ganesh.

“I am overwhelmed to know that Pakistani community present in Qatar is aware of music. I loved performing here in Doha as the audience has shown their affection through the warm welcome. The vibes were different from all other countries I have ever performed. The year 2017 seems to be a good year and I am looking forward to perform more this year,” said Ali while talking to The Peninsula.

Lively Ali was an absolute pleasure to watch as he kept on interacting with the audience during the concert and his singing magic made them hum along.

Sana Salman, General Secretary of PPFQ said: “It is our honour to deliver quality events to Pakistani community in Doha. It is a team effort and I would like to thank the dedicated team of PPFQ (Akmal Rana, Abdul Haq, Shehzad Ahmed, Qaiser Anwar, Dr Shahina Manzur, Manezah Mustajab, Noman Tausif) for their continuous support along with Uzma Shehryar for hosting the evening with perfection and lastly Chairman Mohsin Mujtaba for always boosting the confidence of team and utilising everyone’s best capacity.”

She further said: “We would like to thank specially Pakistan Qatar business forum members specially Mian Mohammad Idress Anwar, Ahmed Hussein, Riyaz Ahmed Bakali, Bader Sohail, Fawad Rana, Khaqan Anwar Khan, senior relationship manager VIP customers Commercial Bank of Qatar, Tahir Ali, AGM head of sales Commercial Bank of Qatar, Mujeebur Rehman, CEO of Blooming Heights and President Redco Construction Pakistan, Nargis Otho, Principal PIS and Dr Javaid Sheikh.

I think what all they have achieved during last four years under the leadership of Adnan Karmani, Shaber Ali and Uzma is tremendous. I expect similar kind of commitment and perhaps more from the current team under the dynamic leadership of Mohsin Mujtaba, Sana Salman, Uzma Shehryar and Akmal Rana. I congratulate Pakistan community and PPFQ team on this occasion.”

Shabber Ali, founding member said: “It is a need of time to show the better picture of Pakistani community to the people living in Qatar particularly to our local friends. We Pakistanis are not less than any other nationality /community in any field, weather its technical, or of any other nature.”
