Pakistan will cut petrol prices by 80 rupees per litre to 378 rupees ($1.35), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said late on Friday.

The reduction will be funded through the government’s petroleum levy.

The move comes just a day after it raised fuel prices by at least 43 percent, citing rising global oil costs driven by the conflict in the Middle East.
