DOHA: A team of veterinary surgeons has removed more than 25 round-shaped objects together weighing 10kg  from the stomach of a sheep at Umm Salal Veterinary Centre run by the Animal Husbandry Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.

Each object was of the size of a tennis ball and the hapless animal had  been suffering from severe bouts of stomachache.
Such cases are spreading due to the fact the fodder being provided to animals lacks some important ingredients like salt, said Dr Tariq Al Sharbini, Veterinarian in-charge at the centre.
As a result, the animals are losing the appetite for fodder and have begun eating things they see around like plastic bags, ropes and cotton from trash, he added.
Unable to digest, these things gather in the stomach of the animals in different shapes, damaging their digestive system.
In the case of the sheep, the problem was diagnosed at the right time and she was saved. The Peninsula
