Arizona Diamondbacks’ first baseman Paul Goldschmidt (44) beats the tag by San Francisco Giants’ shortstop Brandon Crawford (left) in the sixth inning in the MBL match at Phoenix, Arizona, yesterday.

Houston: Right-hander Scott Feldman carried a shutout into the seventh inning of his Astros debut and Houston bludgeoned New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia to claim a victory in the Major League Baseball games season opener for both teams.
Jesus Guzman and L J Hoes both homered against Sabathia, who allowed six runs in six innings of the loss.
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter went 1-for-3 with a run scored as he began what will be the final season of his career.
Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig hit a two-run, first-inning homer off Padres righty Ian Kennedy, and Los Angeles righty Zack Greinke allowed two runs on two hits over five innings, as the Dodgers defeated San Diego.
Puig’s 410-foot blast landed on the second balcony of the Western Metal Supply building.
The Dodgers bullpen closed out the game with four scoreless innings as Los Angeles improved to 3-1.
Blue Jays right-hander Drew Hutchison pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings in his first Major League start in nearly two years, leading Toronto past Tampa Bay Rays.
The 23-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2012 and had not pitched in a game since June 15 that year.
Adam Lind smacked a three-run home run in the first inning.
Third baseman Adrian Beltre had three RBIs, including the game-winner on a run scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning of the Texas Rangers’ victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Beltre, who was 2-for-4, lined a base hit to right center that brought home left fielder Choo Shin-soo from second base.
Joakim Soria, who pitched a scoreless top of the ninth for Texas, earned the victory for the Rangers (1-1) while lefty Mario Hollands was tagged for the loss for Philadelphia (1-1).
The Miami Marlins snapped a tie with two sixth-inning runs and held on to defeat the Colorado Rockies.
First baseman Freddie Freeman went 3-for-3 and hit his first two home runs of the season, and the Atlanta Braves earned a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Braves were held scoreless in Monday’s season opener, but broke out.
Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez threw seven strong innings while first baseman Justin Smoak and shortstop Brad Miller powered the offense to lead the Seattle Mariners to a win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Center fielder A J Pollock tied a career high with three hits and scored twice, once on a controversial play at the plate, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants to break a three-game losing streak.
In the fourth inning, Pollock singled and scored on a short passed ball, trimming the D-backs’ deficit to 4-3.
Video replays appeared to show he was out, but San Francisco could not challenge because manager Bruce Bochy used his challenge two plays earlier, when Pollock was nearly picked off first base.
