The Sri Lankan Majlis – Qatar (SLMQ) organised competitions for Sri Lankan students to mark the 65th Independence Day of Sri Lanka on Friday, at the Sri Lanka Embassy.
The competitions were held in colouring, drawing, prepared speech and essay writing for four age groups. More than 120 students participated.
The event marked its ninth consecutive and was attended by parents and children.
Prominent members from Qatar Toastmasters Club adjudged the speech competition.
The colouring and drawing competitions were adjudged by art teachers of leading schools in Doha.
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the SLMQ Hazim Hamza welcomed the parents and participants.
He encouraged increased participation of Sri Lankan children living in Qatar to benefit from this unique opportunity to showcase their talents.
The First Secretary of the Sri Lanka Embassy Sithara Khan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on behalf of the ambassador and presented awards to the winners.
