The Shura Council held its regular weekly session, chaired by Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.

At the beginning of the session, the Council expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the continued attempts of the Israeli government to Judaise the city of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque, warning of the danger of settlement development activities on the peace process and the two-state solution.

The Shura Council pointed out that these Israeli practices are a clear violation of the rights of the Palestinian people, and of international covenants and resolutions related to the status of the city of Jerusalem.

The Shura Council called on the Arab Parliament, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the parliaments of the world to take a stand on the settlement policy, as a flagrant assault and a flagrant violation of the basic rights of the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, Arab Parliament also condemned yesterday the attempts of the Israeli government to escalate settlement in the West Bank and Jerusalem City, considering such practices a flagrant challenge for the laws of the international community.

In a statement, Arab Parliament warned against the menace of these Israeli practices that portend for further cycles of violence and blow up of the situations in the region, calling on the United Nations and the international community to immediately and urgently act to halt the settlement plots of the Israeli government, specially the settlement escalation in the Jerusalem City, which represent an attempt to alter the geographical and historic landmarks of the city, with the objective of Judaising them, along with the persistent violations against the sanctity of the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque.

The Arab Parliament called on the international community to give up the silence and act to counter these racist crimes, in addition to activating the mechanisms of the international law and the international humanitarian law.

The Arab Parliament called on the international community to hold the perpetrators of these crimes responsible in pursuit of achieving justice and equity for the Palestinian people who are subject to all war crimes and crimes against humanity, whose lands are confiscated and demolished by force.

It also stressed on the importance of coercing the existing occupation force to comply with the international peace through engagement in the peace process.
