The Qatar Charity (QC) office in Pakistan organised a recreational and educational event for orphans at Muzaffarabad in Kashmir, who benefited from a variety of activities that were held at “Rabbani Garden” with the participation of 502 orphans and their mothers.
The event included delivering insightful words, organizing competitions among orphans such as recitation of the Holy Quran, Hadith, Islamic, national songs, public speaking, sack running, tug of war, blowing up balloons, and other competitions that the orphans and their parents enjoyed.
Khaled Wakeel, Director of QC office in Pakistan, said that QC organised the event to provide the appropriate atmosphere to raising orphans, and break their daily routine. Wakeel urged orphans to attend school daily, respect their teachers, do the daily homework, maintain the five daily prayers, study hard and achieve their sponsors’ expectations.
Wakeel pointed out QC humanitarian and development history in Pakistan in general, and Kashmir region in particular. Wakeel added that QC started its charity action in Kashmir in 1994, where it sponsored 50 orphans of poor families. This number increased after the earthquake that struck the region in 2005 to become 1667, not to mention sponsoring poor families and students studying in different stages.
QC sponsors other orphans, poor families, those with special needs and students in four provinces of Pakistan (Punjab, Khyber, Balochistan, and Sindh). The total number of orphans in these regions reached 4,238, including 2,493 males, 1,560 female, 138 poor families, 35 students, 5 disabled males and females and 5 Quran recitation teachers.
