Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) said yesterday that there is a slight shortage of Shafaf cooking-gas cylinders in the local market as foggy weather conditions have affected distribution.
"We acknowledge that fog has led to a reduction in distribution, due to the danger of transferring flammable materials in conditions where visibility is very low. Woqod worked hard to find the best solution and managed to ensure supply, with a decrease of only two percent compared to the same period in December," the company said yesterday, in a statement issued in response to reports appearing in a section of the local media about a shortage of Shafaf cylinders in the market.
Enough stocks of Shafaf cylinders are available and the discount on exchange offers is valid and will continue till the middle of this year, said the statement. Woqod recently announced an extension of its exchange offer till mid-2017.
The offer is still valid and allows customers to exchange metal gas cylinder with
Shafaf for only QR265 instead
of QR365, said the
company.
Customers can still exchange their metal cylinders with Shafaf at any of its service stations or other points of sales.
Woqod works to continuously collect the old metal cylinders from these points of sales and provide them with Shafaf cylinders.
Woqod said it is re-evaluating the amount of gas cylinders that should be distributed across Qatar to meet the country’s increasing demands.
"Woqod always listens to consumers’ concerns and respond to their urgent needs, and will continue its effort to overcome all obstacles to meet the requirements of the people," said the statement.
