For the first time, the Indian community in Qatar is going to be represented by about 125 delegates for the 14th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention to be held from January 7-9, 2017 in Bengaluru.
This was announced at a networking meeting which took place recently at the Ashoka Hall of the Indian Cultural Center. The meeting set a definite agenda for the delegates attending the event.
Since 2003, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is celebrated on January 9 every year to mark the contribution of Overseas Indian community in the development of India.
The convention provides a platform to overseas Indian community to engage with the government for mutually beneficial activities. During the event, individuals of exceptional merit are honoured with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award to appreciate their role in India’s growth. The event also provides a forum for discussing key issues concerning the Indian diaspora.
