New York: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that it is currently operating more than 70 shelters in the Gaza Strip, housing tens of thousands of forcibly displaced people.
In a statement on Sunday, the Agency noted that there is widespread destruction across the territory, in addition to unstable structures and unexploded ordnance, stressing that its teams continue their efforts tirelessly to ensure the shelters remain operational and to help children continue learning and playing.
UNRWA confirmed that over 25,000 Palestinian children have joined the agency’s temporary learning spaces, either in person or online, emphasizing plans to expand the number of these sites.
The Agency also stated that it provides online lessons targeting around 300,000 children in the Gaza Strip, explaining that literacy and education serve as remedies for despair and psychological trauma, thanks to the efforts of thousands of UNRWA teachers.
