The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has shut down a beauty salon on Tanga Street in the Al Hilal area for one week for using expired products.
The closure came following intensive inspection campaigns by the ministry.
Inspectors fined the erring beauty salon and ordered closure for one week in accordance with Article No 6 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection and Combating Commercial Fraud.
The law states that "It is prohibited for all suppliers to sell or display or provide or promote or advertise any counterfeit or corrupted good. A commodity is considered fake or corrupted, if it does not match the prescribed standards or is unusable or expired”
An advertisement announcing the closure will be published on the website of the Ministry and in two daily newspapers on the expense of the violating outlet, in accordance with Article No 18 of Law No 8 On Consumer Protection.
