Doha: College of Engineering - Qatar University (QU) and Katara have signed a partnership agreement to prepare a number of studies that serve reality of traffic in Katara.
QU President Dr Hassan Al Dirham and Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti signed the agreement .
In a speech on the occasion, QU President said that Katara became a landmark of culture and tourism in Qatar, and a popular destination for tourists to know about Qatar's historical legacy, adding that Katara combines a beauty of design and splendor of the details and forms a civilized crucible destination for everyone to communicate with history of parents and grandparents.
This makes it imperative for all of us to create a safe, easy, and flexible traffic environment and this is the basic objective of the agreement, Dr. Al Dirham added.
He added that the partnership would increase prospects of cooperation and communication between the two entities, describing it as a characteristic example of the relationship between the academic sector represented by QU and cultural and community sector represented by Katara.
For his part, Katara General Manager said that ''we are aspiring under this agreement for achieving traffic safety to ensure comfort, safety and easy navigation for Katara's visitors whose their numbers reached more than 9 million in 2014.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rashid Al Ammari, the Dean of the College of Engineering at QU said that this agreement comes in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and supports efforts of the college to prepare Qatari engineers capable of supporting progress and prosperity of Qatar.
