A crowd-sourced exhibition showcasing ‘Tamim Al Majd’ murals in varying shapes and sizes will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park later this month, Qatar Museums (QM) has announced.
Qatar Museums is inviting members of the community to participate in the unique exhibition in celebration of the country’s leadership by contributing their ‘Tamim Al Majd’ murals for display.
Murals are to be collected from around Qatar and brought together for the exhibition which takes place in MIA Park later this month.
Entitled ‘Tamim Al Majd: celebration of unity’ the exhibition celebrates the cultural contribution made by the many tens of thousands of people who have added their voices in support of H H Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in recent weeks.
It marks a period of cultural and artistic significance in Qatar’s history and highlights the extent of the goodwill towards the country’s ruler that has been expressed by the population since the start of the economic and diplomatic blockade.
A number of murals of a wide variety of shapes and sizes are expected to be gathered together from all over the country in the coming days. To ensure the exhibition features the widest range of contributions from communities and neighbourhoods, QM is taking care of all the logistical requirements necessary to transport the murals to MIA Park.
Those interested in taking part can contact QM to have their murals collected and transported to the exhibition site.
The murals will be displayed in the grounds of MIA Park and presented in a broad sweep right the way along the perimeter wall of the Corniche, reflecting the wonderful diversity of comments and messages of support made by residents and visitors of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities.
Bearing the iconic image of H H the Emir created by talented Qatari artist Ahmed bin Majed Almaadheed, hundreds of outdoor murals have sprung up around Doha in the past few weeks in an unprecedented expression of goodwill.
Khalid Al Ibrahim, Chief Strategic Planning Officer at Qatar Museums said: “We invite as many members of the community to participate and donate their murals for this unique cultural exercise and to help us build what promises to be an inspiring and unforgettable exhibition.”
