Greetings sent to Swiss, Benin presidents

Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of congratulations to Swiss Confederation President Simonetta Sommaruga on her country’s National Day.
The Emir also sent a cable of congratulations to Benin President Thomas Boni Yayi on his country’s Independence Day.
Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani sent congratulatory cables to Sommaruga and Yayi.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent similar cables to Sommaruga and Yayi.

Qatar slams arson attack in West Bank


Doha: Qatar expressed condemnation and denunciation of the arson attack by Israeli settlers on a Palestinian family in the city of Nablus in West Bank, killing toddler Ali Dawabsheh and wounding four members of his family.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry considered the heinous crime a serious escalation in acts of terrorism committed by extremist Israeli settlers against the Palestinian people.
It called on Israeli authorities to assume legal, moral and humanitarian responsibility, take measures to stop terrorist acts, provide security and protection to the Palestinian people and bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.
It expressed Qatar’s condolences to the family, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Ministry recalls IS-15 power cables


Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has recalled specific types of IS-15 cables, in cooperation with Anchor Electrical Services Company, agent of Lenovo.
The cable can overheat, the ministry said, urging consumers to stop using it and communicate with Lenovo to replace it with new one for free.
The ministry said the recall was part of its constant coordination to ascertain dealers’ commitment to follow up on defects in products, repair them and protect consumer rights.
The Ministry said it will coordinate with the agent and follow up on maintenance, repairs and communication with customers to ensure implementation of procedures and repair of products.
It urged consumers to report any irregularities to the Consumer Protection Department, which receives complaints, suggestions and inquiries through its various channels.
