Doha: As part of its social responsibility programme, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) received this summer 50 male and female students from Qatar University’s College of Business and Economics to train them in various banking areas.
The students were assigned to branches and departments in line with their majors.
Khalefa Al Mesalam, Head, Human Capital Group, QIB, said: “QIB has a long-standing experience in training students of the college during summer holidays.
“During the past years, QIB has received several groups of students and trained them in branches and head office departments of the bank.
“The experience has been positive, achieving objectives as students were provided with opportunities to acquaint them with Islamic banking products, practices and systems.
“The program is a part of QIB board of directors’ adopted strategy being implemented across the bank. Through it, we are happy to contribute to Qatar’s objective to invest in national talent as part of the Qatarisation policy and develop capabilities of Qatari graduates to assume leadership positions in the future.”
Students expressed interest in training opportunities in Islamic financial institutions such as QIB and confirmed that QIB’s programme has given them the chance to witness and apply in practice many theoretical concepts they have been studying at the college.
QIB’s vision of social responsibility is based on achieving principles and objectives by contributing to activities in society by sponsoring core activities in fields, including education, health, sports, and environment and programmes for people with special needs.
