DOHA: Qatar Airways Cargo (QAC), the world’s third largest international cargo carrier, has increased its capacity to Atlanta, Georgia, with the launch of daily passenger flights to Atlanta yesterday.
The introduction of daily wide-body Boeing 777 passenger flights provides additional belly-hold capacity to the cargo carrier’s existing four times weekly freighter services between Doha and Atlanta.
The carrier now offers a combined 744 tonnes of capacity a week on the Doha-Atlanta-Doha route, meeting the robust demand of the destination. QAC operates dedicated freighters to six destinations in the Americas — Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles and Mexico City and belly-hold cargo space to 13 hubs in the Americas.
QA Chief Officer Cargo, Ulrich Ogiermann,  said: “There is enormous potential for growth in the Americas, as our rapid expansion in this market indicates. We started freighter services to Atlanta in November 2011, and we are excited to now launch passenger flights giving us extra cargo capacity into the world’s busiest airport. Our customers now have access to more capacity in addition to a network of more than 150 destinations via our state-of-the-art hub in Doha as well as innovative solutions for their cargo.”
QAC’s portfolio of distinctive products includes QR Pharma, QR Fresh and QR Equine, offering efficiency and compliance in the handling of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and perishable cargo, as well as professional care and service for the shipment of horses and other live animals. The cargo airline also offers QR Charter, utilising its most modern fleet of Boeing 777, Airbus A330 and Boeing 747 freighters. The airline has announced the launch of QR Express, a solution to deliver airport-to-airport air freight service for time-critical shipments. The Peninsula
