Awqaf Ministry resumes Principles of Islamic Sciences programme

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has resumed its educational programme, “Principles of Islamic Sciences,” delivered by a distinguished group of specialized preachers, as part of its ongoing “Ta’seel wa Tahseel” (Foundation and Attainment) initiative.

Organized by the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, the program is being held in four mosques across the regions of Al Rayyan, Al Duhail, Al Wakrah, and Al Khor. 

The initiative aims to provide structured religious education in various Islamic disciplines to the wider community. The sessions are conducted in person during evening hours after Isha prayer, running from January 11 to May 19, 2026. Classes are held three days a week, Sunday through Tuesday, while Abdullah bin Al Zubair Mosque in Al Duhail offers an expanded schedule with lessons five days a week after Maghrib prayer.

Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Abdulrahman Al Thani Mosque at Al Rayyan will host a three-day weekly schedule: Sunday: Fiqh of Worship (2) by Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Al Mahmoud; Monday: Al-Arba’een Al-Nawawiyyah (Forty Hadiths) by Dr. Salman Al Atwi; and Tuesday: Al-Zamzami Poem in Quranic Sciences by Dr. Mohammed Al-Tahan. Abdullah bin Al Zubair Mosque at Al Duhail features a comprehensive five-day program: Saturday: Legal Maxims by Sheikh Mohammed Al-Siddiqi; Sunday: Kitab Al-Tawhid (Monotheism) by Sheikh Hassan Al-Jaidah; Monday: Al-Zamzami Poem in Quranic Sciences by Sheikh Salem Al-Hababi; Tuesday: Nukhbat Al-Fikr (Hadith Terminology) by Dr. Mukhtar Mamo; and Wednesday: Al-Waraqat (Principles of Fiqh) by Sheikh Yousuf Al-Moathen.

Qanbar Al Ansari Mosque at Al Wakrah will host program includes: Sunday: Fiqh of Worship (2) by Sheikh Yousuf Al Hammadi; Monday: Forty Hadiths by Dr. Maher Alwan; and Tuesday: Al-Zamzami Poem in Quranic Sciences by Dr. Hamed Al Zeini. Abdul Latif bin Mohammed Al Musnad Mosque at Al Khor’s schedule is as follows: Sunday: Forty Hadiths by Dr. Atef Othman; Monday: Al-Zamzami Poem in Quranic Sciences by Dr. Fahd Al-Ruwaili Tuesday: Fiqh of Worship (2) by Dr. Mohammed Al-Muqshi. The “Principles of Islamic Sciences” program, supervised by the Religious Guidance Section, seeks to simplify Islamic knowledge for the general public and students of knowledge, including both men and women. It also aims to revive structured scholarly lessons in mosques and provide foundational understanding of key Islamic sciences through accredited curricula.  The initiative is designed to guide participants at the beginning of their journey in seeking religious knowledge, grounded in moderate and balanced scholarly principles. It contributes to enhancing religious awareness and strengthening intellectual resilience within the community.
