Bangladeshi community under the banner of Bangladesh Awami League –Qatar has celebrated its 46th Independence and National Day.
The function was held at the ballroom of Ramna Restaurant at Nazman, Doha recently. A discussion about the significance of the day along with a cultural programme was held.
The meeting was presided over by the BALQ president Engineer Shams Uddin Mondol and moderated by General Secretary Noor Mohammed Noor.
The discussion programme was attended by the freedom fighter Mohammed Musa, Ex-president of Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, Qatar Chapter Engineer Jalal Ahmed, Vice-President AbulKashem, Kopil Uddin, Shah Alam, Hazi Basher Sarkar, Muklasur Rahman, Philipes, Sagar Chowdhury, Mohsheen khan, Mohammed Shafiq, Meraj Ahmed, Shah Alam Maya, AtikulMowlaMitu, Badrul Islam, Mohiduddin and Moshiur Rahman Mitu. Bangladesh became an independent country 46 years ago, when the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared Bangladesh a sovereign country on March 26, 1971.
Special prayers were also held for those who lost their lives during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Speakers lured the Bangladesh’s progress in infrastructure development, especially the 40 percent completion of 6km-long bridge costing $4bn on Padma River without any foreign funding. Bangladesh has made significant progress under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The country was uplifted from one of the poorest countries in the world to a low-middle income country under PM Sheikh Hasina’s wise leadership. The vision 2021 plan and the associated perspective plan 2010-2021, adopted by the Government of Bangladesh lay out a series of development targets for 2021.
