Some 800 Independent School teachers will sit today for assessment tests. They include teachers of Arabic Language, English, Science and Mathematics for grades one to three in Independent Schools. The assessment tests will take place at Qatar sport clubs and will continue for two days.
The tests are the stage one of the teachers development projects which will be followed by a series of stages during the coming period to include all teachers of independent primary schools, said the Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday.
The aim of these tests is to find out the weaknesses of the teachers who are under services in order to develop special training programmes for them to meet their needs and build their capacities.
The Ministry pointed out that it is offering training programmes for the teaching and administrative staff of the ministry to improve their performances. The tests is one of the tools being used not only to assess the needs but also to develop materials and give indicators that help in making the suitable decisions.
The Ministry needs to know the teachers' performances on the ground to develop future plans to improve the education system in whole.
