The Agriculture Quarantine Office at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment last month inspected 6,016 types of imported agricultural shipments. The total weight of the inspected shipments at different outlets of the country was 65893.726 tonnes.
About 59 shipments weighing 63.67 tonnes were found infected with pests and destroyed for violating agricultural quarantine rules.
The department also issued health certificates and clearances for shipments. Meanwhile, the health monitoring section at Doha Municipality caught four food outlets preparing food in unhealthy conditions.
The violating outlets include two restaurants in Bin Mahmoud and Al Markhiya areas.
