DOHA: Qatar will host the first GCC Forum on Standardisation in Education from December 8 to 9. The forum will be opened by Minister of Education and Higher Education and Supreme Education Council Secretary-General H E Dr Mohammad bin Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi.
The forum will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment as the Department of Standards and Specifications is part of this ministry.
Nabil bin Ameen Al Mulla, Secretary-General, GCC Standardisation Organization, said the forum will help spread the concept of standardisation in the field of education in the GCC. “Education is key to building societies,” he added.
The forum also assumes significance because standardisation helps consumers and facilitate regional and international commercial exchanges.
Several international experts will attend the forum. Papers will be presented on the success of standardisation in education in advanced countries, including the US, the UK, the Netherlands, South Korea, Turkey and Indonesia, Al Mulla said, adding experts will make recommendations that can be implemented in the GCC states.
The forum is an opportunity to establish relations and coordination with university presidents, deans of faculties, scientific research centres and other institutions in the GCC.
