The Department of Publications and Translation at the Ministry of Culture issued a book entitled The Archaeological School of Qatar 1916-1938 - a turning point in the history of Qatar and the Gulf, prepared by Salma Salah
Al Qibti.
The 125-page, eight-chapter book deals with the ancient history of science and religion and getting armed with them, as well as the story of the archaeological school that was established in Qatar in 1916 and continued
until 1938.
The book also sheds light on the importance of science in that era, and the reasons for the establishment of this school, which established Qatar and the Arab Gulf, and opened the doors to knowledge that raised Qatar among nations.
The book also mentions the students of the archaeological school whose arms built this country and the countries of the Arab Gulf as well. This school attracted the students of the Arab Gulf.
The same book presents a historical study of the archaeological school in Qatar, the complex social, political and economic events that surrounded it, and the internal and external factors that helped its existence.
This study also indirectly sheds light on the reasons for the success and prosperity of this school, and then comes the conclusion briefly summarising these reasons.
The Department of Publications and Translation has helped publish a number of books in Qatar in addition to translating some books into several languages to provide the opportunity for the reader in these languages to read about the Qatari creative cultural environment.
