Sacked Catalan leader will not attend court hearing in Spain: lawyer

Barcelona: Dismissed Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont's lawyer confirmed on Wednesday that his client will not adhere to a summons to appear before a Madrid court at a hearing starting Thursday.

"He will not go to Madrid and I have suggested that he be questioned here in Belgium," Paul Bekaert, hired by Puigdemont after he travelled to Brussels this week, told the TV3 television channel.
