Toyota launches Yaris 2014

Doha:  Toyota launched 2014 Yaris, a stylish second generation sedan with an uncompromising blend of performance and durability in line with its iconic new design and product direction. The new Yaris thus offers regional customers a superior sedan that stands out with its distinctive profile, a press release issued by Toyota said.

Takeshi Matsuda, Chief Engineer, Toyota Motor Corporation, said: “With the Yaris, we wanted to help people experience the pride of owning an excellent sedan at a reasonable cost. Moreover, we also wanted to develop an impressively attractive design that customers would want to proudly present to their family and friends. I believe with this new model we’ve really succeeded on the design front. Overall, our objective was to deliver tremendous value in every respect such as the enlarged dimensions with a new stylish exterior design and a quality spacious interior that exceeds its class.”

The new car demonstrates remarkable attention to detail in the design and engineering of the vehicle encompassing its smart, interior design and quiet, refined passenger cabin to its responsive driving dynamics. The overall length has been increased by +110mm, to 4410mm, and the overall width of the vehicle has grown by +10mm, to 1700mm. The height of the new Yaris has also been increased by 15mm. The result is a highly aerodynamic body with a wider and more masculine stance with increases in both headroom and passenger volume.

The Yaris comes with a 1.5 L and a 1.3 L engine alternative with the option of a 4 speed automatic gearbox or a 5 speed manual gearbox. The 1.5 L engine has a maximum output of [NET] HP/rpm 107/ 6000 and maximum torque of  (NET) Kg-m/rpm 14.4 / 4200. The 1.3 L engine has a maximum output of (NET) HP/rpm 84/ 6000 and maximum torque of  (NET) Kg-m/rpm 12.3 / 4400.
