Doha, Qatar: September, the first month of Autumn, will witness increasing relative humidity, said the Qatar Meteorology Department in its monthly climate information guide.

QMD noted that the weather will begin to turn mild, with increased clouds leading to higher chances of rain that may be thundery at times, particularly in the afternoon.

The wind during this month is mainly easterly, and light to moderate in speed. Mean temperatures for September are projected to be around 33.1°C.

The lowest recorded temperature for this month was 20.3°C in 1964, while the highest recorded temperature was 46.2°C in 2001.

Last week, the Qatar Calendar House announced the rise of the Suhail star, signaling the beginning of the Suhail season across the country and most of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

The appearance of Suhail is traditionally regarded as a sign of gradually moderating weather, the end of the scorching summer winds, and the onset of seasonal change with cooler nights, shorter days, and increased chances of rainfall.
