Doha, Qatar: Primary Health Care Corporation, represented by the Preventive Health Directorate, has announced the launch of the “Ahlan for Oral Health 2026” campaign yesterday.

The campaign aims to promote oral health among older adults in Qatar and ensure their integration into comprehensive healthcare programmes.

Dr. Hamad Al Mudhahka, Executive Director of the Preventive Health Directorate, stated that the campaign, organized by the Preventive and Promotive Oral Health Department, comes as part of the national efforts to strengthen the link between oral health and general health. He noted that older adults represent a group requiring specialized preventive and educational interventions.

He added: “Through this campaign, we aim to raise awareness, provide home-based examinations, train caregivers, and deliver a clear message that oral health is a fundamental pillar of healthy aging.”

He also stated that the campaign slogan is: “Elderly Oral Care, Protecting Precious Smile”

He explained that the campaign will focus on educating older adults and their families about the importance of oral health and its connection to overall health, in addition to training caregivers and family members on proper oral hygiene practices and denture care.

The campaign will also include lectures for healthcare professionals to increase awareness of the importance of oral health in healthy aging, as well as home-based dental examinations using mobile dental units to reach elderly individuals in their homes.

The campaign primarily targets older adults across different regions of Qatar, in addition to their caregivers, employees in ministries and governmental entities, and school students who will be engaged as Oral Health Ambassadors within their families and communities.

Activities will take place across various locations including health centers, Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care centers, homes, and inpatient facilities at Hamad Medical Corporation. Educational videos will also be shared with school students to strengthen their connection with older adults at home and improve their understanding of elderly care needs.

The campaign activities will include educational booths, lectures, practical demonstrations, preventive oral examinations, hands-on training on tooth and denture cleaning techniques, and tailored nutritional advice for older adults.

The campaign will be supported through extensive media coverage across local newspapers, radio, television, and social media platforms.

Ahlan 2026 emphasizes that a smile is not merely a cosmetic expression, but a reflection of an individual’s health and quality of life. By integrating education, training, and preventive screening, the campaign aims to make the smiles of grandparents a symbol of health and happiness, and a message passed on through generations in Qatar.
