Doha, Qatar: The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) has announced the results of enrollment for the PhD studies for the academic year 2023-2024. The total number of admissions is 11 students out of more than 1,983 applications received from different countries. Qatari students topped the list at 36 percent.

Dr. Mohamed Al Nawawi, Director of the Board of Doctoral Studies at the DI, said that the selection process was based on competitive standards on the basis of academic merits following best practices in students’ assessment and acceptance criteria. He pointed out that DI aims to train a generation of Qatari and Arabic researchers, enable them to pursue their postgraduate studies, and positively participate in the development of their communities.

He explained that DI offers doctoral studies for eight programmes: Development Economics, Public Administration, Politics and International Relations, Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography, History, Sociology, Media Studies and Critical Security Studies, and stated that the classes will start on August 20 for the new academic year 2023-2024 while application for the next academic year 2024-2025 will start in September. This cohort will be the second for PhD students as four students were enrolled last year as the first cohort.
