Al Rayyan PEC patient records to go digital

DOHA: Patients’ clinical records at Al Rayyan Paediatric Emergency Centre (PEC) of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will go digital with implementation of Clinical Information System (CIS) from Sunday.
The centre will replace its paper clinical records system with a new electronic system. HMC is expecting delays in the transition phase and appointments may also take longer time as staff and patients need to adjust to the new system. Implementation of CIS is part of a roll-out across HMC and Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC).  Once CIS implementation is complete, all patient records will be stored and accessed electronically across both organisations.
The importance of an electronic medical records system was set out in the National Health Strategy launched in 2011 and HMC and PHCC launched the CIS programme in 2012.
